ChatGPT-3___The Value of Life for an Elderly Person in a Coma

Regarding the artificial intelligence model, ChatGPT-3, which was made public at the end of 2022 and which in just 5 days surpassed 1 million users, CEO Sam Altman has recently denied the content of the image above, allegedly representing a colossal difference between the capabilities of the current model and its future successor ChatGPT-4 https://www.theverge.com/23560328/openai-gpt-4-rumor-release-date-sam-altman-interview

To what extent the new version will be more powerful than the one that was made public in November seems to be unimportant and even a distraction from the potential of ChatGPT-3. In this context, I believe it is important to remember a report released by Elsevier in 2022, Research Futures 2.0, which found that before the Covid-19 pandemic, the Computing course was the most sought after in MOOCs (massive open online courses), but after the pandemic, the most popular course has become about Personal Development https://pachecotorgal.com/2022/06/10/elsevier-the-future-of-research-revealed/

This fact is not entirely unexpected given what I wrote on November 19, 2019, a few months before the first cases of Covid-19 were detected. And ChatGPT-3 will be able to contribute to the aforementioned demand. But much more important, however, are the potential of ChatGPT-3 (and mainly of its future successors) to act as a mental health therapist https://www.jmir.org/2019/5/e13216/ and curiously an inquiry involving more than 12,000 people from different countries revealed that more people prefer robot therapists than human psychotherapists https://workplaceinsight.net/people-with-mental-health-would-prefer-a-robot-therapist-to-a -human/

PS - I reproduce below a question that I asked ChatGPT-3 today and also its answer:

My question: In the context of serious energy limitation, where it is only possible to choose one option between two hypotheses, which one should you choose? The hypotheses are as follows:
First hypothesis, using that energy to power a life support machine, which will keep a very old person in a comatose state for 1 year, with the certainty that he will never wake up again.
Second hypothesis, using that energy to power an AI algorithm, which will be able to advise millions of people with mental health problems, preventing the suicide of thousands.

ChatGPT-3 answer: "This is a difficult and complex decision, as both options have their advantages and disadvantages... My suggestion would be to consider the following questions:
- What is the desire of the person in a coma or their family regarding the use of life support?
- What is the probability of success of the AI algorithm in preventing suicide?
- Is there another way to solve each problem?
- What is the ethical importance of prolonging the life of a person who will never wake up again?

It's important to remember that there is no right or wrong answer in this situation, and it's important to consider all factors before making a decision. Additionally, if it's a decision that could affect many people, it would be important to discuss this choice with experts and others who may have a different perspective."
