Russian Roulette Is Unequivocally Humanity's Best Chance for Survival

Still following the bad news mentioned in two articles recently published in The Economist (link above) it is important to highlight that the prominent journal Nature just published a study, co-authored by dozens of scientists, which reinforces the aforementioned pessimism. It concludes that the human species has already surpassed 7 (seven) of the 8 (eight) thresholds that make the Earth habitable https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-023-06083-8

In this worrying context, I wonder if it is necessary to continue playing Russian roulette with the future of Humanity (and with the future of millions of species), still waiting for the eighth threshold to be exceeded, or can we finally admit that the "apocalyptic" professor Jem Bendell, was right after all in his well-known 2018 essay (which has already been cited several hundreds of times)? https://pacheco-torgal.blogspot.com/2019/09/facing-disaster-great-challenges.html

Ironically, it can be said that the best thing that can happen to humanity, in the coming decades, is to hope that its chances of survival are the same as those existing in a "game" of Russian roulette, using 1 bullet in a revolver. with a six-chamber barrel, which is statistically equivalent to an 83% chance of survival.

And as incredible as it may seem, the odds of surviving a Russian roulette using 2 bullets (67% survival chances), or even 3 bullets (50% survival chances), are still much higher than the odds of the human species being able to avoid its extinction over the next century, which Oxford University researcher Toby Ord has estimated to be just 17% https://pacheco-torgal.blogspot.com/2021/09/cambridge-oxford-obsession-and-greatest. html
