Building upon the previous discussion (hyperlink provided above), which delved into two noteworthy articles regarding GPT, one published in Nature referencing the infamous Unabomber manifesto, and the other in The Economist probing the depths of consciousness within GPT-4, I extend an invitation to explore a recent paper authored by a collective of nearly 30 individuals associated with diverse universities and research institutes. This paper offers a thorough overview of diverse ongoing initiatives centered on the concept of synthetic awareness, all catalyzed by the EIC Pathfinder Challenge called “Awareness Inside". That call has urged the scientific community to explore and achieve genuine awareness, pushing beyond conventional notions of perception of surroundings or self-awareness.
