Building on the previous post, accessible via the link above, which highlighted China’s recent recruitment of a French Nobel laureate, I’d like to share an insightful article from Research Policy. Written by researchers from Denmark and Germany, the study offers an in-depth analysis of the mobility patterns of 350 Nobel Prizes awarded in medicine, physics, and chemistry up until 2024. 

The findings reveal that nearly one-third of Nobel laureates were awarded their prizes in countries other than the ones where they were born, and over 43% received their awards while working at institutions different from those where their groundbreaking discoveries originally took place. Universidades Portuguesas com mais áreas científicas no Top 100 mundial

Amanhã será revelado o ranking Shanghai por áreas, de 2024, pelo que nessa altura, se ficará a saber como evoluiu (ou regrediu) a competitividade mundial das áreas científicas nas universidades Portuguesas. E também se as instituições de ensino superior que em 2023 possuíam áreas no Top 100 ainda continuam em 2024 a ser somente as sete que abaixo se listam

Ainda na sequência do post anterior, acessível no link supra, onde se fez referência ao facto da China ter acabado de contratar um prémio Nobel Francês, e onde se comentou o nada brilhante futuro de Portugal no respeitante a conseguir contratar talentos estrangeiros, pois que nem sequer consegue reter os seus próprios talentos, é pertinente divulgar um artigo muito recente e muito interessante, que acaba de ser publicado na revista Research Policy, com autoria de investigadores da Dinamarca e da Alemanha, e o qual analisa a mobilidade de vencedores de prémios Nobel e que revela quais são os países que são mais eficazes a conseguir atrair esses cientistas de topo (vide Fig. 12):  https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0048733324001999#s0035
