Australia vs France: Altruism vs Ego ?

In March of this year, I shared a post about a groundbreaking study in which scientists from universities in 15 countries, including the USA, UK, and Germany, participated. They proposed three strategic actions to combat climate change, the first of which involves "...the gradual shift to a plant-based diet and global phaseout of industrialized animal agriculture".

In this context, I would like to share a much more recent study conducted by Spanish and Australian researchers, which was published in June in the journal Food, Culture and Society. The study analyzed the behavior of four countries—Australia, France, Spain, and Portugal focusing on how the populations in these countries show varying levels of interest in searching online for information about plant-based diets. The article shows that Australia ranks the highest and France the lowest, in terms of interest in adopting this altruistic, low-carbon diet. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/15528014.2024.2351661#abstract

Declaration of Competing Interests - I declare that I have had a particular interest in the above topic for nearly a decade and a half, which has since resulted in dozens of posts, of which I have selected only two: one from 2019, and another from 2020.

PS - Those who cannot afford to simply research this type of diet are the members of Academia, who have special responsibilities in adopting behaviors that minimize their carbon emissions  https://19-pacheco-torgal-19.blogspot.com/2024/02/moral-obligations-of-university.html
