The Hidden Science Behind Trump and Musk’s Drive to Reduce Government Power

A recently published research paper in Research in Economics, an Elsevier journal, provides valuable insights into the rationale behind efforts by prominent figures such as Donald Trump and Elon Musk to reduce the size of the U.S. government. Specifically, the study finds that when government size is significantly reduced, state institutions may lack the necessary capacity to effectively oversee and enforce laws and regulations.

This governance gap can create an environment where corruption is more likely to flourish due to weakened regulatory oversight, diminished enforcement capabilities, and reduced institutional checks and balances. As the author succinctly state: "One dimension of economic freedom that can exacerbate corruption is smaller governments, as they may lack the capacity to provide adequate oversight and enforcement of laws and regulations"

Declaration of competing interests - I hereby declare that I have voiced my criticisms of Trump both recently and on numerous occasions throughout his first term. One such instance can be found in my post titled "The Undeniable Science Behind White Supremacy."   https://pacheco-torgal.blogspot.com/2020/12/science-and-supremacy-of-white-race.html

PS - The inconvenient truth is that Silicon Valley tech bros despise big government because it threatens to dismantle their carefully constructed monopolistic empires, plug their shameless tax loopholes, curtails their relentless exploitation of workers, and shatter their fragile illusion of being untouchable visionaries.
